AIP

Bidirectional DVB-ASI / IP Converter for TV Networks

ASI and IP united in a singleconverter.

AIP simplifies IP transmission links for TV stations in single-frequency networks (SFNs), integrating distribution and contribution with bidirectional conversion between DVB-ASI and IP signals — with redundancy, sync, and remote management.

IP links withredundancy, sync and remote management — the natural evolution of single-frequency networks.

Interconnection between stations, headends, and transmitters gained robustness and economy with the adoption of IP links. AIP integrates distribution and contribution networks in unicast and multicast transmissions, with a bidirectional conversion module that makes operation simpler and more reliable than ever.

The three pillars

One solution.
Three fronts.

01

Bidirectional Conversion

Complete conversion in both directions: ASI-to-IP and IP-to-ASI in a single device. Encapsulation of MPEG-2 Transport Stream flows with guaranteed sync and protection against interference.

02

Unicast and Multicast

Native support for unicast and multicast IP flows on both input and output, with UDP and RTP protocols. Pro-MPEG FEC (SMPTE 2022) data protection for maximum reliability on critical links.

03

Remote Management

Configuration and monitoring via web browser or software, over the IP network. Selection of inputs and outputs and configuration of source and destination IPs with no need for physical access to the equipment.

Use cases

Where AIP
is applied.

From the headend to the remote transmitter, AIP is present at the critical points of the broadcast distribution chain — simplifying links and reducing infrastructure costs.

Headend interconnection

Reliable interconnection between transmission hubs over IP, with redundancy and FEC protection that guarantee continuity even under adverse network conditions.

Delivery to affiliates and repeaters

Distribution of the broadcast signal to affiliate stations and retransmitters over IP links, eliminating high-cost dedicated infrastructure.

Station-to-station communication

Content exchange between TV stations in single-frequency networks (SFNs), with the precise sync this architecture requires.

Uplinks and remote contribution

Digital contribution links from remote sites, integrating field coverage into the central transmission chain.

Single-Frequency Networks (SFNs)

Specialized support for SFN sync requirements, where multiple transmitters operate on the same frequency with precise time alignment.

Legacy network integration

A bridge between existing ASI infrastructure and modern IP networks, enabling gradual migration without immediate equipment replacement.

Transmission infrastructure

As robust as broadcast demands. As simple as IP allows.

  1. 01

    ASI or IP input

Reception of DVB-ASI or TS over IP with automatic conversion to the destination format.

  2. 02

    FEC protection

Application of Pro-MPEG FEC (SMPTE 2022) to protect against packet loss on the IP link.

  3. 03

    Transmission

Delivery via unicast or multicast UDP/RTP to the destination configured remotely.

  4. 04

    Management

Monitoring and configuration via web browser from any point on the network, with no on-site visit.

Three advantages that simplify operation

Redundancy: IP links with FEC protection guarantee transmission continuity even in the face of packet loss.

Centralized management: remote web access to every parameter eliminates on-site visits, reducing operating costs.

Simple configuration: with few parameters the system is up and running, enabling fast deployment.
